Finding an image
There are two ways of finding an image in the image library:
| 1) |
Browsing through the folders
In the first column you will find a menu of the main categories/folders.
Click on your chosen category/folder to reveal its contents (sub-folder
and/or files). By selecting a file (you do this by clicking on the
small thumbnail), a preview of the image along with relevant information
will appear. If you select a sub-folder you will be given a further
list of files to choose from, again click on a file to preview the
image and additional information.
Notice the folders / files you have selected are highlighted in the columns. You can click on another file or folder in any of the columns at any point.

| 2) |
Using the ‘search’ option
The ‘search’ option can be used at any time during your visit. By entering any of the following information into the box, it will search through the files and provide you with a list of possible solutions.
|
| |
| |
Image names |
|

Enter the search word(s) and click “Go”.
|
| |
File names |
| |
Short descriptions of the image (i.e. "Advert
for PC Press") |
| |
Folder names |
| The search results will appear as a folder or file
in the first column which you can then browse though as described
under 1). |
|
By using the link “Back to main image folders“ which can be found below the search results you can return to the main folders/categories in the first column.

Downloading images
Images can be downloaded in two ways - either straight away by clicking
the "Download Now" button or, from your Download List
later by clicking the Add to Download List button. The buttons
are positioned below the preview of the images. Images are downloaded
in their original format unless you have permission to resize an image.
Options will then be given to change size, resolution or colour mode.
Download Now
When you are on an image preview screen you can download this image simple
by clicking the "Download Now" button. This will open the dialogue
where you can select the location on your hard or network drive where
you want to save the image. Images will be downloaded in its original
format unless you are permitted to resize an image.
The download list
Instead of chosing the "Download Now" option you can also add
images to your ‘Download List’ before downloading. The advantage is that
you can use the Download List as a kind of shopping cart - and remove
images again before you finally download the selected. Another advantage
is that you can download all selected images as one ZIP file and do not
have to download all images separately.
You can access the Download List either through the link on the red message
which will appear each time you add an image, or, through the link in
the top left corner above the main folder. This link also informs you
of the number of images you have already selected.
Your Download List provides information and values of
the image(s) you have selected. Clicking on the File Name will open the
thumbnail of the selected image in a up window. If there are images you
no longer require you can remove them by using the “Delete” link in the
far right column. (Images you do not download will automatically be deleted
after 24 hours.)
You are then given options as to how you wish to download the files –
each image separately either in its original format or zipped, or, you
can download the complete list as a ZIP file.
(ZIP files provide a slightly quicker download, but you need the software
to un-zip the image, e.g. Winzip or Stuffit)
When you click a download link it will take up to a few minutes for the
image(s) to be processed. You will then be prompted to select a folder
on your hard drive / network as to where you want to download the file.
To return to the main screen where you can browse the folders and images
just close the Download List pop up window.

| Images can be removed with the “Delete” link, downloaded separately with the “Download” and “Download ZIP” links or all together with the “Download” link at the bottom. |
